1844 is pleased to announce the release of their debut single Kanyantapo, a rendition of a once favourite Zambian traditional that was sang in church in a mostly four part quartet arrangement which would prominently feature some vocal playful lead by the bass singer in some portions of the song. The song, as reinterpreted and delivered by 1844, is both catchy and groovy and features some passionate leads by different parts, and some intricate harmonies. It is as enjoyable to listen to as it is to sing along to. It implores the listener to not harshly judge those who lose their way but to lead them instead to Jesus Christ because if they do not, they themselves stand to fall into the same trap (“umunsanki”) as the person they are chastening.
