Meet Mr. Aaron G.

AaRON G. brings his soulful and crisp voice and timbre to the core in his deliveries. He has always wanted to do a solo project, having sang, his entire singing life, in various vocal groups – he has done Bass, percussion, lead,  baritone and even tenor. He is reflective and loves music. He is a gifted orator. In sporadic bursts of moments of inspiration, he is a writer. (maybe you should do it fulltime Aaron!). He has always drawn inspiration from soulful music, maybe because of its gracefulness. Vocal harmony and beautiful lyrical content and poetry strike a chord with him that cannot be easily broken. He has been inspired by such acts as history’s most rewarded vocal group Take 6 (10 Grammys so far – in 2018), The King’s Heralds, Keith Lancaster’s A cappella, some of whose timeless songs he believes sound as good and are as relevant today as when he first heard them some 20 years ago when he was first introduced to that genre. Others are local acts – P. K. Chishala, Ackim Simukonda, and regional artistes like Oliver Mtukudzi, Black Mambazo to name a few. International acts would include a whole spectrum of accomplished singers across varied genres – Sam Cooke, Seal, and a lot more whose vocal prowess speak to Aaron in ways that just hit him to the core.

Regarding his musical direction beyond the planned rendition offering, he would like to experiment with a fusion of a peculiarly Zambian Afro sound with Soul with emphasis on the vocal deliveries. Invariably, this direction would lead him to explore uniquely African sounds (even from beyond Zambia) and ways of creating soulful fusions to deliver inspirational music that uplifts, comforts and awakens the conscience.

“It is an absolute pleasure as well as a privilege to be able to do what one enjoys and to express oneself the best way one knows how. This is just the beginning of many more musical offerings” said Aaron when asked about his feelings on the recording project.

He is set to record a tribute album which will be a collection of covers of some of the music that has influenced him so far and helped shape his musical understanding and bias.

Aaron G. has been involved in promoting other talented musicians as well as in music educational and cultural exchanges. In particular, he organised Camp A cappella Africa which brought together participants from Ghana, Angola, Namibia and Zimbabwe and was held in Lusaka, Zambia in June 2018. One of the outcomes from that Camp, which is Africa’s biggest vocal music event, is the 2018 Camp album slated for release this 2018.
